Individually tailoring a physiotherapy plan that fits.
At Sarah Jay Paediatric Physiotherapy, we aim to provide flexibility when it comes to service delivery. We aim to put you, your child and your family first, individually tailoring a physiotherapy plan that fits in with your current commitments and routines at a time and location that suits the unique needs and preferences of your child and family.
Initial consultations routinely take place within the clinic setting. Hereafter, off-site visits can be scheduled to take place within the child’s home, childcare, community environment (e.g. local park, swimming pool, sporting centre) depending on your family’s needs and preferences.
> Funding
Private Health Insurance: Physiotherapy consults may be funded by your private health insurance. The rebate provided by each health fund varies. Contact your private health insurance agency for further information. Please bring your private health insurance card with you to consultations for on the spot claims.
Medicare: Children who have a chronic medical condition and complex care needs and are being managed by their GP under a GP Management Plan (Chronic Disease Management Plan, formerly Enhanced Primary Care Plan) and Team Care Arrangements are eligible for Medicare rebates for physiotherapy on referral from their GP (up to 5 subsidised allied health consultations per year).
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS): Sarah Jay Paediatric Physiotherapy provides physiotherapy services, including early intervention, to NDIS participants who self-manage their NDIS plan or who use a plan manager.
> Centre-Based Consults
Clinic Consultation Fees:
Initial Appointment/Long Consult (1 hour) = $193.99
Follow-Up Appointment/Short Consult (45 minutes) = $145.49
> Standardised Developmental Assessments
Parents/carers can self-refer their child for developmental assessment. The Peabody Developmental Motor Scale – Version 2 (PDMS-2) is used to identify children with motor dysfunctions.
The PDMS-2 takes about 2 hours to complete. Upon completion, a comprehensive report will be provided to outlining your child’s movement abilities and goals for therapy (if indicated).
Assessment fees usually include 2 hours of face to face assessment and 2 hours of scoring/report writing and the preparation of an individualised therapy program (if indicated).
Assessment Fee:
- Face to Face Assessment Time + Comprehensive Report + Individualised Therapy Plan if needed = calculated at $193.99/hour
> Home and Community Consults
Home/Community Consultation Fee:
- Face to Face Appointment Time + Travel Time to/from clinic = calculated at $193.99/hour
> School and Childcare Consults
For children who demonstrate functional limitations that affect their participation in school activities, a school visit can be arranged to assess your child’s participation and provide teachers/teachers aids with documentation and verbal guidance outlining how they can best support your child’s skill development and participation in the school’s curriculum.
For children with movement difficulties, it is often useful for physiotherapist to visit school 2-4 times per year (at the start of each school term/semester) to ensure your child is properly supported as the school curriculum changes.
School Consultation Fee:
- Face to Face Appointment Time + Travel Time to/from clinic + Report Writing = calculated at $193.99/hour
> Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy is often useful for children with who find mainstream swimming lessons are unable to fully cater to their unique learning needs, motor disorder and/or musculoskeletal limitations.
In addition to learning basic swim/movement in water skills and water safety skills, children can also benefit from hydrotherapy through improved strength, balance and coordination and during post-operative rehabilitation periods when weight-bearing is restricted.
Hydrotherapy can be provided by Sarah Jay Paediatric Physiotherapy at your local public swimming or hydrotherapy pool.
Hydrotherapy Fee:
- Face to Face Appointment Time + 15 minute transition + Pool Fee + Travel Time to/from clinic = calculated at $193.99/hour
> Report/Program Writing and Equipment Funding Applications
Upon request, a comprehensive report can be provided to you and your GP/specialist outlining your child’s current abilities, progress and their ongoing needs.
In addition, exercise programs and transfer procedures can be created to provide professional guidance for those involved in a child’s care.
For NDIS participants, Sarah Jay Paediatric Physiotherapy can provide end of plan reports and equipment funding applications (Assistive Technology Request Forms).
Report/Program Writing and Equipment Funding Application Fee:

> Cancellation and Missed Appointment Policy
Should you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we ask that you provide as much notice as possible, and at the very least TWO business days prior to the scheduled appointment, via phone call, email or text message.
If the required TWO business days’ notice is not provided, Sarah Jay Paediatric Physiotherapy will seek payment for the missed/cancelled appointment.*
*For NDIS participants - NDIA will cover payment for late cancellations/missed appointments when less than 2 business days’ notice is provided.
